Our Preschool Program develops independent swimming in a confident and safe environment. We aim to promote safety skills and develop swimming strokes through the preschool years, to give children the confidence and skills to love the aquatic environment.

This class is an amazing step in the development of your young child. Giving them the opportunity to build  their water confidence and basic swimming skills. The aim of the class is to develop confidence, floating, submerging skills & independent swimming in the water.

Skill Focus

Perform a safe entry and exit

The ability to safely and confidently enter and exit the pool.

Confidence to perform an assisted back float, relaxed body position in the water.

Kick on front with teacher assistance, blowing bubbles, basic straight leg kicking action.

With teacher or flotation aid for support kick & paddle with basic propulsion and blowing bubbles.

The ability to return to the pool edge after falling off the wall and turning around, no assistance.

A willingness to confidently and independently submerge underwater.

Confidently and independently perform a front float.

A basic kick on front independently with a kickboard, straight legs, strong kick, blowing bubbles.

The ability to confidently swim independently continuously, with basic breathing skills for 5m.

Confidence in the water and follows teachers directions.

This class aims to further develop independent swimming skills  and confidence. Children will begin to build the foundation of basic stroke development through developing a strong kick on both front and back. Children  will also uncover a respect for the aquatic environment and learn safety skills.

Skill Focus

The ability to safely and confidently enter and exit the pool.

Confidence to perform a 5 second front float, rotating to a 5 second back float, independently swims to the wall.

The ability to kick on front independently with a kickboard, straight legs, strong kick, correct body position.

With assistance kick on back, with a strong kick and correct body position.

Independently swim, roll over, float on back, roll over, swim back to the wall.

Confidently and independently perform a back float.

The ability to confidently swim independently, with a strong breathing pattern.

The ability to perform a front streamline with a strong kick, blowing bubbles.

Independent kick on back, with a strong kick & correct body position.

Confidence to submerge and swim underwater to collect an object from the pool floor.

This class is for children who are now confident and independent in the water. The class encourages children to build strong stroke foundations for Freestyle and Backstroke development. Children will continue to develop water safety skills.

Skill Focus

The ability to kick on front independently with a kickboard, straight legs, strong kick, correct body position.

Freestyle coordination skills, strong kick with a coordinated straight arm freestyle action.

Independent kicking on back, with a strong kick and correct body position.

Perform a basic butterfly kick, arms by side, chin to chest, feet together strong kick.

Safety Swim - WITHOUT GOGGLES - swim big arms out, roll over, float on your back, roll over, swim big arms back to wall.

Freestyle streamline with correct head, body and arm position with a continuous kick.

Basic body rotation to the side, take a breath, continuous kick and strong body position in the water.

Backstroke streamline with correct head, body & arm position with a strong continuous kick.

Can confidently swim underwater to an object for retrieval.

Students listen to the teachers instructions and take on board technique feedback.
